230342 Die Kunst der Zuspitzung: Das Epigramm in der römischen Literatur (S) (WiSe 2025/2026)

Das Epigram - eine 'Aufschrift' - startete seine Karriere im antiken Griechenland als genau das: als Aufschrift auf einem Trinkgefäß, Weihgeschenk, Grab oder einem Kunstwerk. Schnell wurde daraus eine literarische Kleinform, die auch in Rom Einzug hielt.
Im Seinar wollen wir uns v.a. mit den römischen Dichtern Catull und Martial beschäftigen - Martial gilt als Meister der Gattung, Catull war sein großes Vorbild. Wir werden uns aber auch griechische Epigramme anschauen, Sammlungen (z.B. die Priapea) und Ausflüge in die Spätantike sowie die Renaissance machen.
Wir werden uns mit der künstlerischen und inhaltlichen Gestaltung von Epigrammen beschäftigen und uns am Witz erfreuen.
