Family sociology examines the intricate structures, dynamics, and relationships within families. This field addresses critical topics such as family diversity, poverty, partner selection, family dissolution, and fertility behavior.
In this seminar, we will explore theoretical advancements and innovative perspectives in family research, with a special emphasis on European and cross-cultural viewpoints, as well as the impact of digital technologies on family dynamics. We will delve into various aspects of family diversity and transitions, including partner choices, the causes and consequences of family dissolution, fertility desires and intentions, and the role of medically assisted reproduction.
Participants will have the opportunity to enhance their understanding of the perspectives, methodologies, and findings in family sociology. Additionally, the seminar will encourage students to apply family research perspectives and critically reflect on existing studies related to families in Europe.

Requirements:
• Completion of all assigned readings.
• Presentation in one thematic session.
• Preparation of two discussion questions based on a selected basic text.
