Sprachphilosophen beschäftigen sich mit Grundproblemen von Sprache und Bedeutung. Sie suchen nach allgemeinen Erklärungen für sprachliche Bedeutung und nach einem grundlegenden Verständnis des Verhältnisses von Sprache und Welt. Sprachphilosophische Fragen sind gerade im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert unter Philosophen intensiv diskutiert worden, und einige der so entstandenen Texte können mit Fug und Recht als klassische Texte der neueren Philosophie betrachtet werden.
Im Seminar wollen wir uns den Grundproblemen von Sprache und Bedeutung anhand einer Auswahl dieser klassischen Texte nähern. Betrachtet werden sollen u. a. Aufsätze von Frege, Russell, Carnap, Strawson und Kripke. Es sollen sowohl deutsch als auch englisch verfasste Texte gelesen werden.
