Diese Vorlesung beleuchtet die Schnittstellen von Medien und Kultur überblickshaft vor der Frage: wie werden Medienprodukte erfolgreich, bzw. aktueller formuliert, weshalb gehen manche Medienprodukte viral, andere nicht? Grundlegende Begriffe der Medienwissenschaft werden in dieser Vorlesung kritisch gewürdigt.
Zu diesem Zweck werden exemplarisch einzelne Medientheorien thematisiert, der Zusammenhang zwischen medialen Revolutionen und deren gesellschaftlich-kulturellen Folgen beleuchtet und aktuelle Theorien zur Netzwerkforschung in den Blick genommen.
Idee dieser Vorlesung ist die Gestaltung eines interaktiven Formats, d.h. Studierende werden in dieser Vorlesung nur temporär an einem Live vorgetragenen Podcast in Ko-Präsens teilnehmen. Vielmehr werden Materialien zu den einzelnen Themen im Moodle zur Verfügung gestellt, die von den Teilnehmer*innen dann während der Vorlesungszeit erarbeitet, diskutiert und moderiert gewürdigt werden sollen.
