300455 Global Social Justice and Redistribution from an interdisciplinary perspective (S) (WiSe 2025/2026)

Contents, comment

This seminar introduces into concepts of global social policy with a particular focus on its dimension of global social redistribution from an interdisciplinary perspective.
The first sessions will be devoted to concepts and mechanisms of global social policy and governance, and specific empirical examples of global social redistribution. Following, we will engage with theories of global justices (political philosophy) and social justice perspectives on global social redistribution. Based on that, the second half of the sessions will engage with the perspectives and contributions of various disciplines on global social justice and redistributions: respective definitions, accounts, descriptions and explanations. The different disciplinary perspectives considered will include political science/international relations, sociology/social policy, social anthropology, international law, global history, literacy and cultural studies . We will draw upon empirical examples such as global taxes and global development goals to illustrate, analyse and discuss the value of different disciplinary and inter-disciplinary approaches.
