Der Präventionsbegriff verspricht der Erziehungswissenschaft nach Ziegler (2013) zweierlei: Erstens die Möglichkeit, "potenzielle Problementwicklungen frühzeitig und niedrigschwellig zu verhindern, bevor sie als Problemlagen manifest werden" (ebd.: 213) und zweitens die Möglichkeit einer normativ richtigen Intervention. Im Seminar sollen die zentralen Merkmale des Konzepts der Prävention anhand von Beispielen und theoretischen Ansätzen erarbeitet werden.
Mit dem Begriff der Subjektivierung wird im Seminar desweiteren die erziehungswissenschaftlich relevante Idee eingebracht, dass die Subjekte - der Erziehung, Bildung oder auch der Prävention - stets in einer paradoxen Doppelbewegung von Unterwerfung und Werdung entstehen. Diese poststrukturalistische Denkbewegung macht nun eine Reflexion des Pädagogischen, eine subjektivierungstheoretische Studie der Präventionsprogrammatik selbst erforderlich.
