Der Titel dieses Seminars verdankt sich einem heute fast klassischen Aufsatz von Charles Tilly. In der Veranstaltung sollen zum einen Tillys theoretische Vorläufer aufgearbeitet werden, zum anderen sollen einige Fälle vorgestellt und im Lichte der bis dahin erarbeiteten Argumente genauer ausgeleuchtet werden.
