Das Seminar beschäftigt sich mit dem (internationalen) Diskurs um ‚interkulturelle Kompetenz‘ und dem damit verbundenen Phänomen der 'Interkulturellen Kompetenztrainings'. 'Interkultureller Kompetenz' wird gegenwärtig in der pädagogischen Arbeit als Anforderung an professionelle Akteur*innen und auch darüber hinaus der Stellenwert einer Schlüsselqualifikation zugeschrieben. Im Seminar setzen wir uns mit rassismuskritischen Perspektiven auseinander und gehen vor diesem Hintergrund der diskursiven Verwendung des Begriffs ‚interkulturelle Kompetenz‘ nach. Dabei erörtern wir diskursive Kontexte, innerhalb welcher dieser und entsprechende Trainingskurse an Bedeutung erlangt haben. Gefragt wird nach den Konzepten ‚interkultureller Kompetenz‘, wer damit wie adressiert und welches Wissen hervorgebracht wird. Eröffnet wird diesbezüglich eine kritisch-reflexive Auseinandersetzung mit der Kategorie ‚Kultur‘ als machtvolle Unterscheidungspraxis. Berücksichtigt werden hierbei auch klassenbezogene Dimensionen sozialer Ungleichheit und ihre Bedeutung in Bildungsdiskursen.
Zu Beginn werden wir uns im Seminar gemeinsam über die Arbeitsformen verständigen. Angeboten werden Möglichkeiten der Auseinandersetzung mit Texten in Englisch und Deutsch als Wissenschaftssprache.
