Die Veranstaltung versteht sich als Orientierungshilfe für Neueinsteiger in das Studium der Rechtswissenschaft (Hauptfach und BA-Nebenfach). Sie eignet sich darüber hinaus aber auch für Studierende anderer Fächer, die sich einen Einblick die Grundlagen des Rechts verschaffen wollen.

Inhaltlich geht es um den Gegenstand des Jurastudiums - also das Recht. Wer aber wissen will, was das ist, stößt sehr schnell auf eine ganze Reihe von Fragen, wie z.B. "Was ist eigentlich Recht?", "Wo kommt das Recht her?", "Ist das Recht gerecht", "Was ist Rechtswissenschaft, wozu ist sie gut und wie betreibt man sie?". In der Vorlesung sollen Antworten auf solche Fragen nach Gegenstand, Funktionen und Methoden von Recht und Rechtswissenschaft erarbeitet und vorgestellt werden.

Die Materialien zur Vorlesung stehen auf der E-Learning-Plattform Jurmoodle zur Verfügung.
