Dieses „Grundseminar Historiographie“ beschäftigt sich mit den Anfängen der Geschichtsschreibung im griechischen Altertum. Ausgehend von den frühesten schriftlichen Zeugnissen über Herodot und Thukydides bis zu den Universalgeschichten des Diodor und des Polybios werden griechischsprachige Texte in den Blick genommen. Neben inhaltlichen Aspekten wird beleuchtet, wie die Texte entstanden sind, wie überliefert; ferner: was bedeutete Geschichte schreiben für die Autoren und was bedeutet es für uns?
Zu jeder Sitzung wird eine Quelle oder Sekundärliteratur im Selbststudium vorbereitet.
