Proendliche Gruppen sind topologische Gruppen, die inverse
Limites endlicher Gruppen sind. Proendliche Gruppen tauchen auf
natürliche Weise als Galoisgruppen (unendlicher) Galoisscher
Körpererweiterungen auf, oder als Vervollständigungen abstrakter
Gruppen.Eine wichtige Klasse proendlicher Gruppen bilden die sogenannten
p-adischen Liegruppen (oder p-adisch analytischen Gruppen). Wie die
klassischen Liegruppen erlauben die p-adischen Liegruppen eine reiche
Strukturtheorie. Aspekte dieser Theorie sollen in der Vorlesung von
Grund auf erarbeitet werden.

Vorausgesetzt werden lediglich fundamentale Kenntnisse in der Algebra,
wie sie etwa in der Vorlesung Algebra 1 vermittelt werden.
