Die Wissenssoziologie stellt eine der großen Traditionen in der Soziologie dar. Das Seminar befasst sich in seinem ersten Teil in theoriegeschichtlicher wie in systematischer Hinsicht mit Grundlagen und Fragestellungen der Wissenssoziologie. Die verschiedenen Stationen der Wissenssoziologie von den Klassikern Scheler und Mannheim über die verschiedenen sozial-konstruktivistischen Ansätze bis hin zu jüngeren theoretischen Ansätzen werden analysiert. In seinem zweiten Teil werden paradigmatische Forschungen im Rahmen der empirischen Wissenssoziologie diskutiert.
