In diesem Kurs beschäftigen wir uns näher mit Luhmanns Unterscheidung von Medium und Form, die in Luhmanns Spätwerk an Prominenz gewinnt. Wir werden sowohl diskutieren, welche Möglichkeiten und Perspektiven sich mittels dieser Unterscheidung für die Theorie eröffnen, als auch anhand von konkreten Anwendungsstudien schauen, ob uns dieser analytische Blick auf die soziale Welt überzeugt. Dazu werfen wir auch einen Blick auf spezifischere Medienarten wie Kommunikations- und Verbreitungsmedien.
