230037 Race and Empire on the 19th-Century Stage (S) (WiSe 2022/2023)

Contents, comment

This seminar will introduce students to a seldom studied body of texts -- popular plays of the 19th century -- and examine the representation of slavery, the British Empire and nineteenth-century discourses of "race" on the British stage in this period.
