Religion und Politik stehen in vielfachen Verhältnissen: Komplementaritäten und Spannungen, Indifferenzen und komplexe Vermittlungen beider lassen sich ausmachen. Im Kurs werden verschiedene soziologische Zugänge zu diesen Relationsweisen erarbeitet. Dabei werden kulturelle und institutionelle Arrangements – Verhältnis von Staat und Kirche, Säkularität, Zivilreligion – betrachtet und die Prozesse wechselseitiger Dynamisierung und Transformation von Politik und Religion.
