Das Seminar führt in die Soziologie des Wissens ein. Ausgangspunkt dieser soziologischen Tradition ist die Frage, inwieweit sich Ideen, Wirklichkeitsannahmen, Deutungen, kognitive Orientierungen und Wahrnehmungsschemata auf soziale Bedingungen und historische Kontexte zurückführen lassen, inwieweit sie also Ausdruck einer bestimmten gesellschaftlichen „Seinslage“ sind und in ihrer Entstehung in einem Zusammenhang mit sozial- und kulturgeschichtlichen Entwicklungen stehen. Das Seminar liefert einen Überblick über die wichtigsten theoretischen Positionen (Marx, Mannheim, Durkheim, Berger/Luckmann, Bourdieu, Foucault, Luhmann und weitere) und komplementiert diesen durch eine Auswahl empirischer Studien, die die historische Genese und soziale Bedingtheit bestimmter Wissensformen und -inhalte beleuchten. Ziel des Seminars ist es, einen ersten Überblick über zentrale wissenssoziologische Perspektiven zu liefern und in die damit verbundenen Vorgehensweisen in der Bearbeitung wissenssoziologischer Fragestellungen einzuführen.
