Mit seiner Theorie der Gerechtigkeit (auf Englisch 1971 erschienen) hat John Rawls ein bahnbrechendes Buch geschrieben, das die Sozial- und politische Theorie tief beeinflusst und verändert hat. Nicht die individuellen Interaktionen stehen im Zentrum seiner Analyse der sozialen Gerechtigkeit, sondern die Institutionen, die das gesellschaftliche Leben bestimmen. Nicht die Bürger als Individuen sind in erster Linie verantwortlich für bedeutsame wirtschaftliche Makrophänomene wie Arbeitslosigkeit, Armut oder Ungerechtigkeit. Die Grundordnung unserer Gesellschaft, wie sie sich zum Beispiel darstellt im Steuer- oder Erbschaftsrecht, das die Verteilung der Rechte und der Kooperationsgüter regelt, tendiert zur Erzeugung von mehr oder weniger sozialer Ungerechtigkeit und ist deshalb unter die Lupe zu legen.
In diesem Seminar wollen wir Auszüge aus Rawls’ Hauptwerk genau analysieren und wenn nötig Thesen durch in anderen Texten vorgetragene Argumente ergänzen.

Voraussetzung für die Vergabe von 2 Leistungspunkten (Bachelor Einschreibung bis SoSe 11 und Master of Education) ist die regelmäßige und aktive Teilnahme sowie das Erbringen des schriftlichen oder mündlichen Beitrags im Umfang von maximal 1200 Wörtern für das Modulportfolio, auf dem die unbenotete Moduleinzelleistung beruht. Die Anforderungen für den Modulportfolio-Beitrag werden zu Veranstaltungsbeginn bekannt gegeben. Als Modulabschluss kann eine Hausarbeit geschrieben werden.
