Elementare logische Fertigkeiten sind eine unverzichtbare Grundlage für folgerichtiges philosophisches Argumentieren. Ziel der Veranstaltung ist es. diese Fertigkeiten zu vermitteln.
Inhaltlich werden die Grundlagen der Aussagen- und Prädikatenlogik im Mittelpunkt stehen. Dabei geht es insbesondere um die Erfassung von Schlussfiguren und Argumenten sowie um die Analyse von umgangssprachlichen Sätzen mit logischen Mitteln. Dies erlaubt eine Überprüfung der Gültigkeit von Schlüssen und die Identifikation von Fehlschlüssen.
Da mit der Logik nur vertraut werden kann, wer sich den in der Vorlesung vorgetragenen Stoff durch das eigene Lösen von Übungsaufgaben wirklich aneignet, wird die Vorlesung von Tutorien begleitet, in denen Übungsaufgaben gestellt und besprochen werden.

Voraussetzung für die Vergabe von 5 Leistungspunkten (Bachelor Einschreibung ab WS 11/12) ist eine mindestens mit „ausreichend“ bewertete Klausur. Beide Teile der Logik-Vorlesung enden mit einer 90minütigen Klausur, die von der oder dem jeweiligen Lehrenden gestellt wird. Die bessere der beiden Klausuren wird als Modulnote gewertet, d.h. die schlechtere Note geht nicht in die Berechnung der Modulnote ein. Es müssen jedoch beide Klausuren bestanden werden.
Voraussetzung für die Vergabe von 4 Leistungspunkten (Bachelor Einschreibung bis SoSe 11und Master of Education) ist die regelmäßige und aktive Teilnahme sowie das Bestehen der Abschlussklausur.
