Technologie ist in unserem Alltag allgegenwärtig. Von Smartphones über GPS bis zum herkömmlichen Fieberthermometer – viele technische Entwicklungen wären ohne wissenschaftliche Forschung nicht denkbar. Andererseits spielt die Technik in Form von Messinstrumenten wie Mikroskopen oder Apparaturen wie dem Teilchenbeschleuniger für den wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisfortschritt eine unentbehrliche Rolle.
Im Seminar wollen wir uns dem Wechselspiel von Wissenschaft, Technik und Gesellschaft anhand wissenschaftsphilosophischer Texte nähern. Wir diskutieren ob technische Innovation ein genuines Ziel von Naturwissenschaften ist, welchen Einfluss außerwissenschaftliche Institutionen wie z.B. Militär oder Pharmaindustrie auf wissenschaftsgetriebene Technikentwicklung haben.
Für die Seminarteilnahme sind keine Vorkenntnisse notwendig, aber ein Interesse an gegenwärtigen und wissenschaftshistorischen Fällen von Technikentwicklung ist willkommen.
