Die wiederholte Anwendung einfacher Abbildungen
x -> f(x) -> f(f(x)) ...
bzw. die Lösungen gewöhnlicher Differentialgleichungen
liefern häufig eine sehr komplexe Dynamik.Berühmte Beispiele sind das Lorenz-System, mit dem
Edward N. Lorenz die Unvorhersagbarkeit von
Wetterphänomenen demonstrierte oder die logistische
Abbildung f(x) = a*x*(1-x).
Beide Modelle zeigen für gewisse Parameterkonstellationen
eine chaotische Dynamik.In meiner Vorlesung werden verschiedene Möglichkeiten
zur Formalisierung des Chaosbegriffs vorgestellt.
Wichtige Konsequenzen werden diskutiert und anhand von
charakteristischen Beispielen illustriert.Vorausgesetzt werden solide Kenntnisse der Analysis,
und der linearen Algebra.
