Warum kann man sagen, dass man ein Buch begonnen hat, obwohl ein Verb wie beginnen eigentlich ein Ereigniskomplement benötigt, ein Buch aber streng genommen ein physisches oder Informations-Objekt bezeichnet? Warum interpretiert man der Junge nieste den ganzen Morgen als Iteration von Niesereignissen? Warum sprechen wir von ''bewusst' im Satz die Praxis befindet sich bewusst in der Fußgängerzone, wo doch im Satz keine einzige bewusste Entität genannt wird? In all diesen Fällen entsteht im kombinatorischen Zusammenspiel Bedeutung, die über die normale Interpretation der auftretenden Ausdrücke hinausgeht - ein Phänomen, das wir als Coercion bezeichnen. In dieser Masterveranstaltung werden wir uns mit aktueller semantisch-pragmatischer und psycholinguistischer Forschung zu unterschiedlichen Coercion Phänomenen beschäftigen und selbst an kleineren Projekten zum Thema arbeiten.

Der vorige Besuch einer Einführung in die Semantik und Pragmatik (etwa Diskurssemantik & Pragmatik) wird empfohlen.
