Brief description
These master seminars focus on the relation between institutional efficiency and market dynamics (e.g., entrepreneurship, access to the capital market, payment dynamics, and growth). It begins with an introductory overview of approaches adopted to investigate judicial efficiency and courts’ productivity, followed by the presentation and discussion of specific case studies.

Course objectives
Students will understand how microeconomic theory and quantitative analysis can be used to critically evaluate the impact of institutional efficiency on market dynamics; and they will apprehend how to estimate judicial efficiency and court’ productivity.

Organization
The course is split up between introductive lectures on the core issues of the program and seminar sessions during which students have to contribute to the learning process by presenting scientific articles on the selected topic, and actively taking part in discussions concerning the proposed cases studies.

Assessment methods
An oral presentation of scientific articles during the course (first step), and the submission of an essay with critical review of the discussed manuscripts and the end of the course (second step).
