Mit Blick auf die Zeit zwischen Reformation und Französischer Revolution spricht die Geschichtswissenschaft von der "Frühen Neuzeit". Die Veranstaltung bietet einen einführenden Überblick über Begriff, Strukturen und zentrale Ereignisse der drei Jahrhunderte zwischen Mittelalter und Moderne. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Entwicklungen im deutschsprachigen und westeuropäischen Raum, von dem ausgehend auch Fragen einer entstehenden Verflechtung im globalen Maßstab betrachtet werden.
