Die Religionssoziologie zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dass sie in weiten Teilen im Rahmen elaborierter Gesellschaftstheorien betrieben worden ist. Das Seminar geht solchen Verortungen von Religion in der Gesellschaft nach. Es erörtert dabei zugleich, inwieweit sich die jeweiligen begrifflichen Entscheidungen durch bestimmte historische Kontexte haben beeinflussen lassen (etwa Europa vs. Amerika) und mit Blick auf andere Kontexte zu ganz anderen Verallgemeinerungen hätten kommen können. Den Studierenden wird somit dreierlei in diesem Seminar vermittelt: eine Einführung in den gesellschaftstheoretischen Kanon und dessen Konzeptualisierung der Religion; historische Perspektiven auf religiöse Ausdifferenzierungsprozesse; und schließlich eine reflexive Perspektive auf den historischen Kontext soziologischer Theoriebildung.
Das Seminar findet wöchentlich online statt und beginnt am 02.11.20 mit einer Einführungssitzung. Der Zoom-Link wird rechtzeitig über den E-Mail-Verteiler publiziert.
