In dem Seminar geht es um eine Einführung in das Verhältnis von Massenmedien und Wissenschaft. Es sollen Studien gelesen und diskutiert werden, die sich damit beschäftigen, nach Maßgabe welcher Kriterien in den Massenmedien welches wissenschaftliche Wissen bevorzugt ausgewählt, in welchen Rollen (Experte) und Formaten (z.B. Talk Show) Vertreter der Wissenschaft zu Wort kommen und wie wissenschaftliches Wissen für ein nicht-wissenschaftliches Publikum aufbereitet und zugänglich gemacht wird. In einem zweiten Schritt geht es um Untersuchungen, die danach fragen, welche Rückwirkungen die Medienpräsenz für die Wissenschaft (Forschungsagenda und -förderung, Selbstverständnis von Wissenschaftlern etc.) haben kann.
