Zivilgesellschaft und soziale Bewegungen stellen wichtige Akteure in der Vermittlung und Mobilisierung von gesellschaftlichen Interessen dar. Das Seminar befasst sich mit zentralen Konzepten und Erkenntnissen zu zivilgesellschaftlicher Partizipation und sozialen Bewegungen in Demokratien. Es beleuchtet zum einen verschiedene Verständnisse von Zivilgesellschaft und sozialen Bewegungen in ihrer Beziehung zu institutioneller Politik und Wirtschaft. Zum anderen werden konkrete Fallbeispiele in den Blick genommen (z.B. Umweltbewegung, Frauenbewegung) sowie aktuelle Entwicklungen im Kontext von Digitalisierung und Transnationalisierung.
