Wie kann Migration die eigene soziale Position verändern? Wie kommt es dazu, dass manche MigrantInnen einen sozialen Aufstieg und andere einen Abstieg erleben? In wie weit bestimmt die soziale Position im Herkunftsland schon, wer überhaupt mobil werden und migrieren kann?
Die oben genannten Fragen adressieren zentrale Aspekte der migrationssoziologischen Ungleichheitsforschung. Um sich diesen komplexen Zusammenhängen der räumlichen und sozialen Mobilität in dem Seminar nähern zu können, werden im ersten Teil theoretische Zugänge besprochen. Dabei wird diskutiert was Mobilität und soziale Mobilität bedeuten und wie sie sich gegenseitig bedingen. Im zweiten Teil des Seminars werden empirische Studien, die sich diesem Thema widmen, besprochen und analysiert. Im dritten Teil des Seminars erarbeiten Studierende methodologisch, wie kleine empirische Studien zu diesem Thema erarbeitet werden können.

Es wird empfohlen die "Einführung in Migrations- und Integrationsforschung" bei Herrn Ulbricht besucht zu haben bzw. parallel zu dem Seminar zu besuchen.
