Mit diesem Buch führt Ludwig A. Pongratz zwar „auch“ ein in die Grundthematiken der Pädagogik, aber er tut dies in guter kritisch-emanzipativer Tradition in gleichsam aufklärerisch-irritierender Absicht und Ausrichtung. So nähert er sich z.B. dem Erziehungssachverhalt unter der Überschrift Erziehung: Zwischen Bevormundung und Mündigkeit. Hierbei treten sowohl die im Erziehungsgeschehen bestehenden Dilemma Strukturen als auch Ambivalenzen hervor. Hierbei kommt für den Autor der Darstellung des historischen und gesellschaftlichen Kontext, und dessen Einfluß auf die jeweils vorherrschenden Formen erzieherischer Tätigkeit zentrale Bedeutung zu, um Bildung auch als ambivalentes Versprechen und (Denk-) Provokation „erlesbar“ zu machen und Pädagogik anders zu denken.
