300169 Quantitative Methoden: Analyse von Paneldaten (S) (WiSe 2018/2019)

Das Seminar vermittelt Kompetenzen zur Analyse von Längsschnitt- und Paneldaten und zur kritischen Einschätzung entsprechender Studienergebnisse. Praktische Übungen werden mit der Statistiksoftware 'Stata' durchgeführt. Beispielhafte Fragestellungen, die sich mit Paneldaten am besten beantworten lassen, sind: Wie wirkt sich die Geburt eines Kindes auf die Lebenszufriedenheit der Eltern aus? Welchen Einfluss hat eine Gewerkschaftsmitgliedschaft auf das Gehalt? etc. pp.
In abwechselnden Sitzungen werden die mathematisch statistischen Grundlagen der Modelle erläutert, um diese Modelle in den jeweils anschließenden Sitzungen praktisch am Computer mit Hilfe von 'Stata' zu berechnen. Ausgehend von einer Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) Regression werden Between Effects (BE), Fixed Effects (FE) und Random Effects (RE) Modelle thematisiert. Bei den Random Effects Modellen wird dargelegt, welche Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede zur Mehrebenenanalyse bestehen.

Requirements for participation, required level

Kenntnisse der Regressionsanalyse (OLS) und des Statistikprogramms 'Stata' sind höchst empfehlenswert, aber keine strikte Teilnahmevoraussetzung. Es ist im Interesse der Teilnehmenden, fehlende Kenntnisse vor der Veranstaltung selbstständig zu erarbeiten.
