220081 Machen Gefühle Geschichte? Konzepte der Emotionsgeschichte (S) (SoSe 2018)

Freude, Angst, Wut, Scham, Langeweile… Emotionen gehören zu unseren grundlegenden Alltagserfahrungen und prägen unser Denken und Handeln. Aber haben sie eine Geschichte? Machen sie gar selbst Geschichte? Oder, etwas allgemeiner: „Was haben Gefühle in der Geschichte zu suchen?“ (Frevert 2009) Dieser Frage soll in diesem Seminar nachgegangen werden.

Die jüngere Emotionsgeschichte hat eine ganze Menge dazu zu sagen und nähert sich möglichen Antworten aus der Warte unterschiedlicher Konzepte, Methoden und Disziplinen. Im Rahmen des Seminars soll anhand einschlägiger Literatur ein Überblick über Forschungsfragen, Probleme und Theorien der Emotionsgeschichte vermittelt werden. Zu Beginn des Semesters wird mithilfe grundlegender Texte die Relevanz theoretisch-methodischer Konzepte für die Geschichtswissenschaft erörtert. Anschließend werden anhand einschlägiger Literatur zentrale Konzepte der Emotionsgeschichte kennengelernt, um im Anschluss exemplarisch Fallbeispiele aus dem Feld zu diskutieren.
