(Soziale)Medien sind in zahlreichen Lebensbereichen der Kinder und Jugendlichen eingebunden. YouTube gilt als das neue Fernsehen. Das Seminar erforscht die individuelle Sichtweise jugendlicher RezipientInnen in Bezug auf ihre YouTube-Nutzung. In dem Seminar wird der Frage nachgegangen, welche Bedeutung YouTube und YouTuber für die Identitätsarbeit von Jugendlichen haben. Dazu werden populäre Lifestyle YouTuber näher betrachtet. In einer theoretischen Einführung mithilfe von Textlektüre werden zentrale Begrifflichkeiten, wie die Phase der Jugend, Identitätsarbeit, Medienkompetenz und Mediensozialisation näher betrachtet und mit Bezug auf die Fragestellung des Seminars näher beleuchtet.
