The seminar will discuss basically why people radicalize into violent extremism. Therefore we will discuss recent scientific evidence from various disciplines. The issues are: What is radicalization? Which individual and contextual conditions are relevant? Which mechanism and dynamics cause radicalization of individuals into extremist milieus? What are good counter-mechanisms to reduce radicalization? We are open to discuss recent phenomena and bring in own ideas. Two guests will be invited to train with us risk-assessment and to discuss a project on deradicalization in Bielefeld.
