Objectivity is often taken to be one of the main aims of science. However, recently this ideal has been contested. The aim of the blockseminar is to examine what “objectivity“ is in the context of scientific practice and what the conditions for achieving it are.

We will start with viewing the history of “objectivity”, discuss the different notions of the concept we have in use today, and evaluate how the current research practices influence the objectivity of science
