Innerhalb der Erziehungswissenschaft spielen kritische Ansätze eine besondere Rolle. Sie bieten zum einen Orientierungspunkte für die akademische Ausrichtung der Diszplin, aber auch für die praktische Ausrichtung und den Handlungsbezug. Zudem schließen sich kritische Theorien in der Erziehungswissenschaft vor allem solchen Zeitdiagnosen an, die zu einem Wandel von Erziehungsinstitutionen und -praktiken auffordern und damit beständig zu einer Herausforderung der Disziplin geführt haben und immer noch führen. Das Seminar soll der Entwicklung kritischer Theorien nachgehen, ihre Verankerung in der Erziehungswissenschaft nachvollziehen und nach ihrer Anwendung bzw. Anwendbarkeit in der aktuellen Debatte fragen.
