Die moralische Bewertung von Krieg scheint auf den ersten Blick eindeutig zu sein: Es soll ihn nicht geben. Dennoch stellt sich die Frage nach der moralischen Bewertung des Krieges neu, wenn es um die Verteidigung gegenüber Angriffen geht und um die Verhinderung von Massenmord und Vertreibung. Gibt es also gerechte Kriege? Wenn ja, unter welchen Bedingungen? Die Bewertung des Krieges hängt nicht nur von seinem Warum und Wozu ab, sondern auch davon, wie er geführt wird. Gibt es eine moralisch vertretbare Art der Kriegsführung? Wie ist die kriegerische Bekämpfung eines dezentralen, nichtstaatlichen Terrorismus zu beurteilen? Wie ist die Nutzung bewaffneter Drohnen moralisch zu bewerten? Und was muss und darf getan werden, um Kriege zu verhindern?
