Die Wirtschaftsethik beschäftigt sich zunächst mit grundlegenden moralischen Fragen rund um das menschliche Wirtschaften: Welches Wirtschaftssystem lässt sich moralisch rechtfertigen? Was sollte mit Geld nicht gekauft werden können (was sind die „Grenzen des Marktes“)? Ein Teilbereich der Wirtschaftsethik ist außerdem die Unternehmensethik, die sich mit der Ethik unternehmerischen Handelns befasst, also etwa der sozialen und ökologischen Verantwortung von Unternehmen.
