Das rapide Anwachsen von Beratungsangeboten in (spät-)modernen Gesellschaften ist früh von beratungskritischen Einwänden begleitet worden. Wurde infolge des sog. Psychobooms der 1970er Jahre der Vorwurf laut, Beratung stelle eine Form trivialisierter Therapie dar, so scheint sich die gegenwärtige Kritik darauf zu konzentrieren, Beratungsangebote als gouvernementale Praktiken zu dekonstruieren, in denen die Persönlichkeit der Klientinnen und Klienten nach bestimmten Mustern der Selbstoptimierung zu formen versucht wird. In unserem Seminare wollen wir uns anhand ausgewählter Texte einen Zugang sowohl zur älteren als auch zur neueren beratungskritischen Debatte verschaffen.
