Filme gehören zu den wichtigen Medien, die im Religionsunterricht eingesetzt werden. Filme sind popkulturelle Medienformate. Der Kinosaal ist dabei nicht mehr sein ausschließlicher Aufführungsort. Das Fernsehen, DVD oder Streaming-Dienste machen die Nutzung an jedem anderen Ort möglich. Dennoch wird das Kino-Erlebnis weiterhin von vielen geschätzt, welches meist in Multiplex-Kinos mit vielen Sälen stattfindet. Seine Steigerung findet dieses Erlebnis im Feiern bestimmter Filme, die so zu "Kultfilmen" werden. Mit seinen Erzählungen bietet das Kino Angebote zur Sinnsuche und Weltdeutung an. Hier setzt das Seminar an. Im Rahmen des Seminar sollen Filme angesehen und besprochen werden. Dabei wird auch die Relevanz der filmischen Narrative für den Unterricht im Blick sein.
