Der Kurs umfasst folgende Inhalte:
- Übungen zum analytischen Hören
- Artikulationsübungen
- Einführung in die Systematik des IPA
- Ebenen der Transkription (weit, eng, deskriptiv, präskriptiv)
- Deutsche Standardaussprache
- Transkription der Standardaussprache anhand geschriebener Texte
- Enge Transkription auf der Basis gehörter Texte (standardnah)
- gelesene und spontane Sprache, Varietäten des Deutschen, ggf. weitere Sprachen

Ein zeitgleicher Besuch der Veranstaltungen "Phonetik und Phonologie" und "Grundkurs Linguistik" wird empfohlen. Der Kurs hat Seminarcharakter, die Übungsaufgaben werden in der zum Modul zugehörigen Übung bearbeitet.
