This course consists of a students research project on the history of area studies at Bielefeld University. Since the foundation of the Bielefeld University 50 years ago, Latin American Studies as well as development sociology have been main research areas. Based on archival research and on an Oral History project, the students and the two project directors reconstruct the history of Areas Studies at Bielefeld University. Within the course the material will be organized and systematized in documentary film.
The seminar is organized by Olaf Kaltmeier (Bielefeld University) and Alex Schlenker (Universidad Andina / Universidad Católica, Quito, Ecuador)
