Dear Master’s students,
We are pleased to invite you to apply for *The Past in the Present: How
Societies Use History*, a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) in History
taking place in 2027 and hosted by the University of Suceava, Romania.
The programme explores how the past continues to shape the present and
how societies use history to define identities, justify political
choices, negotiate collective memory, and address contested legacies.
Drawing on comparative perspectives from Czechia, France, Germany,
Romania, and Sweden, participants will examine the connections between
historiography, politics, and public memory, particularly in times of
crisis, when established historical narratives are challenged or
reinterpreted.

8 March 2027 – Online workshop I

22 March 2027 – Online workshop II
*
12–16 April 2027 – On-site programme in Suceava, Romania
The programme is worth *4 ECTS credits*.
There are no tuition or participation fees. Travel, accommodation, and
food costs during the on-site week are funded through an Erasmus+
mobility agreement.
