Comprehensive language proficiency
The degree programme provides a sound grounding in the English language, culture, literature and subject-specific teaching methodology. Students further develop their excellent language skills so that, as teachers, they can use the language flexibly in the classroom.

Cultural Perspectives
The programme covers not only British and American cultures, but also the language, culture and literature of many other English-speaking communities around the world. This approach fosters a comprehensive understanding of global interconnections and prepares students for critical and reflective work in diverse social contexts and within schools.

Practical Training
Students benefit from practical training through a high proportion of subject-specific teaching methodology modules, as well as two integrated teaching placements. These practical experiences enable students to apply and reflect on their theoretical knowledge in real classroom situations.

Flexible study structure
The degree programme allows students to set their own individual focus, tailored to their future career aspirations. Students can choose between different profiles based on school types, which gives them the opportunity to pursue their interests and strengths in a targeted manner.

Good career prospects

Furthermore, the course opens up a wide range of further career paths within the education sector and beyond.
There are good prospects of securing a teaching post, particularly in secondary schools (Hauptschule, Realschule, Sekundarschule and Gesamtschule), primary schools and also in integrated special educational needs settings. Nevertheless, it is important to bear in mind that you will be teaching your chosen subject for a long time. You should therefore take an interest in what you will be teaching and study a subject that you are passionate about. It is also helpful to consider the age of the pupils in the respective school types when making your decision.
