261061 Cicero: Ethik, Recht, Staat (S) (SoSe 2017)

Wie sollen wir leben? Was macht einen guten Staat aus? Mit diesen Fragen beschäftigen wir uns anhand ausgewählter Texte aus Ciceros „De finibus“, „De officiis“, „De re publica“ und „De legibus“. Wir üben den Umgang mit solchen klassischen Werken der Philosophiegeschichte und stellen uns dem Problem, wie man verschiedene Texte desselben Autors zueinander in Beziehung setzen kann. Nicht zuletzt werden wir den systematischen Gehalt der Ideen Ciceros diskutieren, vor allem die Verortung seiner Ethik zwischen Tugend und Pflicht sowie seinen politischen Republikanismus.
