Ziel der Veranstaltung ist es, Theorie und Praxis der Röntgenstrukturanalyse soweit zu erlernen, dass Strukturpublikationen interpretiert und verglichen, sowie einfache Strukturanalysen selbst durchgeführt werden können.
Folgende Themen sollen behandelt werden: Geschichtliches, Symmetrie im Kristallgitter, Kristallklassen, Raumgruppen, Röntgenquellen, Diffraktometeraufbau, Beugungsgeometrie, reziprokes Gitter, Strukturfaktoren, Intensitätsgleichung, Auslöschungen, Strukturlösung, Strukturverfeinerung, vergleichende Strukturauswertung, graphische Darstellung, Datenbankrecherche.
