Students will have the chance to explore Shakespeare's undiscovered masterpiece Cymbeline in rehearsal and performance. Our focus lies on the performative potential of the play's characters, story and Shakespearean language. We will discuss and explore Cymbeline's cultural relevance today by rehearsing the play and present our results in a performance.
Every student of English literature has to read Shakespeare at one time or another. Performing the text gives you a unique insight and appreciation of the wonderful (and difficult) language!
Students are required to contribute to the performance (either on- or offstage) and attend rehearsals on a regular basis.
Please obtain (and read) a copy of Shakespeare's Cymbeline. The RSC edition is recommended and will give you a detailed performance background. Arden, Oxford or Cambridge editions are acceptable. Please refrain from Penguin or cheap internet editions.l

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
Students will compose a short essay on a topic of their choice which will be published in our program.
