Das 19. Jahrhundert wird oft als ein langes Jahrhundert beschrieben, das von der Aufklärung bis zum Ersten Weltkrieg reichte. Wieso und von wem wird es so gedeutet? Welche Strömungen prägten dieses Jahrhundert aus heutiger Perspektive? Die Veranstaltung befasst sich mit den verschiedenen "-ierungen" des 19. Jahrhunderts (Globalisierung, Urbanisierung, Säkularisierung...) und ihren geschichtswissenschaftlichen Deutungen. Dabei diskutieren wir vor allem Texte, die in ihrem Blick auf das 19. Jahrhundert einen globalen Ansatz verfolgen.
