Die Veranstaltung vermittelt Grundkonzepte der Volkswirtschaftslehre, d.h. führt wesentliche Begriffe und Methoden ein, die als Grundlage für die weiterführende ökonomische Ausbildung dienen.

Grobgliederung:

1. Markt-- und Preistheorie (Mikroökonomische Theorie): Funktionsweise von Märkten, Preismechanismus, Marktversagen

2. Makroökonomische Theorie: Volkswirtschaftliche Gesamtrechnung, gesamtwirtschaftliche Aggregate (Inflation, Arbeitslosigkeit, Wachstum), Rolle des Geldes, Wirtschaftspolitik
