This course is a seminar that introduces the World Trade Organization (WTO) and its central role in regulating the global trading system through international trade law. It examines the WTO's legal framework, institutional structure, and fundamental principles, with particular emphasis on the regulation of trade in goods, services, and intellectual property, as well as its dispute settlement mechanism for resolving trade disputes among member states. It also examines contemporary challenges such as sustainable development, climate change, and the integration of developing countries into the global economy, while engaging with debates on WTO reform and the future of the multilateral trading system. Through the analysis of WTO agreements, legal principles, and selected dispute settlement cases, students will develop a critical understanding of the WTO's role in international economic law and global trade governance.

The main outlines and topics will be introduced in the introduction lecture.

Die Hausarbeit erfolgt der Zuordnung gem. StudPro 2023 nach § 31 Abs. 2 Nr. 3.
