This seminar explores the dual role of literature within the context of colonialism. Historically, texts served both as tools for reinforcing imperial dominance and as powerful instruments for anti-colonial resistance and decolonisation. Together, we will analyse how literary works consolidated, questioned, or radically dismantled colonial narratives. Students will engage with key postcolonial theories and develop a critical understanding of power structures in and through language.

In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
