In this course, we will examine the question of how knowledge is represented in the human mind. Are concepts, such as ‘shoe’ and ‘piano’ stored as discrete entities or do they consist of cues which may overlap between concepts? Do representations remain stable over time or do they change as we interact with the world? What role does language play in the formation of representations? Are there differences between sensory modalities, such as visual vs. auditory representations? We will address these questions through readings, discussions and weekly exercises.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
